Import requirements
Please note all Dogs & cats must be documented as being 3+ months old.
VACCINATIONS
Your pet(s) must have been vaccinated within the last 12 months or a minimum of 4 weeks before entering Bahrain. This is a Ministry requirement and these vaccines need to be repeated yearly whilst in Bahrain. The following minimum vaccinations are required:
♦ DOGS – Rabies, DHLP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirosis, Leptospirosis)
Puppies must have had 2x doses of all these vaccinations. The first dose given when 2 months old and the second dose given 2-3 weeks later. The puppy can be shipped not less than 4 weeks after the second dose.
♦ CATS – Rabies, Tri-cat (Feline Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus & Panieukopnia)
Kittens must have had 2x doses of all of these vaccinations. The first dose given when 2 months old and the second dose given 2-3 weeks later. The kitten can be shipped not less than 4 weeks after the second dose.
Please ensure wherever possible the veterinarian vaccinating your pet(s) places the standard vaccination stickers (supplied by the manufacturer with each batch of vaccinations) in the pet’s vaccination certificate booklet or card, as without the official stickers it can be difficult for us to obtain the Import Permit if detail is not clearly legible.
All dogs & cats from certain countries (available on request) including the USA & Canada will be quarantined on arrival, even though proof of all required vaccinations are shown. The only exception will be for pets that have had an anti-titre rabies test done 6 months from the second rabies dose, with the certified result proving a minimum serum antibody level of 0.5 IU/ml. There are only two accepted blood testing laboratories in the USA (Kansas & Texas-details available on request).
